New Blog URL

I changed the URL to this blog to www.pindropsoup.com. I took the suggestion after meeting with some other local bloggers at the Front Range Blogger Meetup last night in Broomfield. It was suggested that there is too much risk associated with not owning one’s URL. I know that from email – and frown upon companies that still use *.aol.com or similar. .blogspot had to go.

So far, I am still hosting on blogspot. Many are suggesting bluenote and WordPress, but I would like to hear more suggestions or reasons to move. It seems like a lot of work and learning, and its tough to compete with free. So please share what you know.

Also, just curious…. does anyone understand my pin drop reference to telecom?

Good move shifting to your own domain Dave. That personal branding is valuable and makes it easy if you shift blog platforms to not impact users. I updated my Bloglines so I don’t miss the RSS feed.

i assume pin drop has to do with the old Sprint ads about the quality being so good you could hear a pin drop? do I win?

Good idea on your own domain. My experience with Blogger has been fine and free with enough features for now. Admittedly staying has a lot to do with AdSense, FeedBurner, etc. so no experience with WordPress or others. Blogger has started blog export but I’m not sure if the trouble would gain much for the learning curve.

    I say Sprint Ads also…

Personal domains for the win. Also thirding Sprint ads.

My suggestion? Find a cheap hosting package, and set up Drupal! (like how I have turtlemadness.net set up)
